Outdoor Stay and Play Sessions
FAQ
Below is a list of some frequently asked questions (FAQ), if you cannot find the answer to your query, please contact us here
What happens if I cannot attend one of the sessions in my block?
You are welcome to gift this to a friend. You must provide us with your friends name, contact number and email address as well as any allergies ahead of the session. Please give as much notice as possible.
Do you offer sibling/twin discount?
Yes! 50% Sibling discount is offered on all block bookings. Please select the sibling discount option when booking.
Don’t forget siblings under 12 months attend free of charge.
Twin discount is offered at an even higher rate at our Coffee, Cake and Calm sessions. Please get in touch for this discount to be applied.
Do you do birthday parties?
Unfortunately we don't currently offer birthday party sessions.
Can we bring along a second adult?
This depends on the session!
- Woodland Wanderers (preschool sessions)- Yes extra adults are very welcome!
- Coffee, Cake and Calm (Baby sessions)- One adult per booking only please! This is due to a hot drink and cake being included in the ticket price. We also limit numbers to just 12 adults and babies per session to ensure we can all fit comfortably on the blankets and under the shelter when this is needed.
What do you do if it rains?
Sessions continue in most weather conditions.
Coffee, Cake and Calm (Baby sessions) The whole area is covered by a large tarpaulin ensuring everyone stays dry. The feedback from these sessions has been really positive from parents. They say it is similar to camping and the rain sounds on the tarp are nice and relaxing!
Woodland Wanderers (Preschool Sessions) We cover the craft areas and small world play with tarpaulin to provide a little shelter and ensure crafts can continue. On particularly wet days we might adjust our activities to ensure they are rainy day friendly! We ask that children come dressed appropriately to play in the rain- puddle suits and wellie boots please!
In extreme circumstance a session may be cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions such as high winds. We aim to give as much notice as possible when this occurs and you will be offered a transfer or a full refund.
Is the site wheelchair accessible?
The site can be accessed with an adult pushing a child in a wheelchair.
Our site is relatively flat but due to the woodland environment there are many loose sticks and exposed roots. This can be managed with an adult pushing the wheelchair but your child may find this challenging to navigate if they are more independent in self-propelling.
The site is not currently accessible to a parent in a wheelchair due to a step up to the woodland path and challenging terrain along the woodland path.
Is there parking available at the farm?
Yes there is parking on site. This can get busy at times particularly in warmer weather making it more tricky to find a space. Where possible please walk to the farm or share lifts with other parents!
There is plenty of free parking along Meanwood Road with a short pedestrian path that runs alongside Rollette Cafe and leads directly to the farm.
Is the site pram friendly?
Yes, lots of parents bring prams every week!
Please bear in mind the route is along a woodland path so there are a couple of areas with exposed tree roots and slopes.
What should we wear?
Old clothes that you don't mind getting muddy! We often have crafts available including paints and glue. Boots, wellies or trainers depending on wet weather. Closed toe shoes for exploring are important!
Here are some tips for different seasons:
Summer sessions- Light long sleeved t-shirts and trousers this helps to protect little arms and legs from any pesky stinging nettles or insects. Sun hats and sun cream, although our spot is very shady. Insect repellent is also handy during the warmer months.
Spring- Lightweight puddle suit to protect clothes. Possibly an extra layer for cooler days as the woods tends to be cooler with lots of shade.
Winter- Snowsuits or thicker puddle suits with lots of layers. Boots or wellies with extra socks. Hats, scarf and gloves are a must. You are welcome to bring flasks of warm drinks too!
Which session is best for my child?
Our sessions are based on the age of your child.
Coffee, Cake and Calm- This is for babies up to 12 months. We are based on blankets in a central area and babies explore at their own pace.
Woodland Wanderers- This is for children from 12 months to 5 years. This session supports children in exploring a wider area with more opportunity to move around and access different areas in the woodland.
Please take a look at our class information when booking to find out more about each session.
How do I find you?
Please bear in mind our site is a 10 minute walk from the carpark, maybe slightly longer with a little one, especially if they like to stop and say hi to the animals on route!
To find us walk from the carpark to the main gates. Pass the main Reception on your left. Look for the zigzag path with black handrail on the left as you pass the barn. Follow this all the way to the top until you meet a field. Turn right and follow the wood chip path all the way into the woods and you’ll see us at the end!
There is a purple ribbon trail to follow from the zigzag path to help you.
You can also check out the ‘How to Find Us’ section on the website for a map of our location as well as a video!
